Anatomy Scan Scare @ 21 weeks

Today we went in for our anatomy ultrasound, at 21 weeks (well, a day shy of 21 weeks).  While the baby looked great, the ultrasound tech discovered something very frightening.  My cervix was thinning out and it was open.  There was only 24mm of cervix left, and it was dilating to about 2cm.  The doctor was concerned, but not panicked.  Anything less than 24mm they start to get worried.  He told me I could get a cerclage, which stitches your cervix shut.  This would help prevent preterm labor, on top of the progesterone shots I am already getting.  He was also pretty firm about NOT going on vacation (we were supposed to leave 2 days later).  We were REALLY looking forward to the beach, especially since we didn't get to go last year.
We left his office with a  decision to make.  Should we get the cerclage or not?  It required getting a spinal and being in the OR.  It really wasn't a hard decision because we were willing to do ANYTHING to keep this baby in.  We scheduled it for 9am the following morning.
21 weeks

Sucking his thumb :)
